The show goes on and The Quilt Show with Ricky Tims and Alex Anderson has moved to the next guest. For the past two weeks I had the honor of being their featured guest and it has created quite some excitement.
I'm writing this little blog to welcome so many new people who saw the show and signed up for my newsletter! Thank you for your interest in my work! Many people signed up, I shipped lots of books, received many requests for lectures and classes (including Australia that I had to decline as I am already committed to another event on that date) and many collage quilters have discovered my website www.collagefabric.com. Sign up for that website has more than tripled!
I consider myself retired, but the passion goes where it wants to go. Retirement to me means that I can do anything I want to do, without making a living on my mind. What do I like to do? Yes, fabric, but also family (especially the four granddaughters), travel, garden, tennis and volunteer work. I like that I don't have to rush in the mornings to go to work, but can play in my studio until it is time to get dressed.
I will try to help other collage quilters as best as I can by buying fabrics that work especially well for collage. I make packages of small cuts ("builders"), but there is no way I can keep up with the big demand that the TV show has created. I make what I make and there is no team assisting me.
You can browse back on some previous blogs, to get a little bit more idea of who I am and what my fabric journey has been, but I think The Quilt Show did a great job in telling my story. I wrote a blog about the taping last year in August. In all it has been a fantastic experience and I thank The Quilt Show team for giving me this opportunity.
I made a change in my lectures. I will no longer give lectures about "trends in the quilting world". I will have only one lecture and that is about my journey in fabric with a big focus on my own quilts. Like a trunk show. Existing commitments will be honored, but a guild can ask me to switch. If I can ever be of any fabric help, please let me know. Being together with like-minded fabric people has always been one of my biggest joys. For as long as I can remember my "slogan" in newsletters has been: "It is fun to work with fabric and fabric people". It's a perfect way to describe how I feel about it. The way I do this has changed over time, but it still is there.
I hope to meet old friends and new friends at guild meetings and classes at national shows or retreats. Until then, I'm still quilting my almost finished Seeds quilt and started "Asilomar Dreaming" on the design board. Please follow me on social media where I do my best to share things more often.
